Q What makes the Greatest Treasure series special?
A These books are intended to reach readers with the experience of God's visible hand in the lives of the main characters, Shoe Makinen and MaryAnne DuPree. I am particularly interested in reaching YA Christian fiction readers who like action and adventure. The Suitor's Treasure has both a boy and a girl as lead characters, so I'm hoping this series will be good Christian fiction for girls and boys.
Q Where did you get the idea for this series?
A I only had the setting in mind - a small town during a period before my time. The story was born out of the opening sentence in the first book, when MaryAnne stepped through the schoolroom door. The rest of the book and those that follow blossomed from there.
Q So, why should readers give these books a try?
A I think all of us can relate a little to Shoe and MaryAnne. I can only tell you what others have said about 'Mystery at the Hot Pond', readers have shared that they loved it! All of it! Some say they have a hard time reading out loud because they laugh too hard; especially 'For the Love of Ricky'. I'm hoping this will be a good Christian fiction book series that is enjoyed by tweens, young adults, and even older.

I like adventure, a bit of mystery and romance and this book had it all! I was kept on the edge of my seat by the snowstorm and the digging for treasure and I thought it was great that the author brought into it the attic love letter!Product details

The Suitor Treasure Greatest Treasure Volume 2 David DeVowe 9780996854900 Books Reviews
This book was a joy for our whole family to read! The plot was exciting and describes the emotions and setting of the characters so vividly it is as though you are actually there and know the characters personally! The ending is beautiful and this book is most definitely worth the read! The only thing that makes this book better is reading it in addition to the other books in the series!
I loved this adventure through the eyes and mind of a 6th grade boy. Well written and highly entertaining. Teaches about The Treasure in such a way as to certainly make one sit up and take notice. Add in a 6th grade girl bent on having a part in an adventure and you have a wonderful story of childhood. Highly recommend this story. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
David DeVowe didn’t disappoint in The Suitor’s Treasure, book two in his Greatest Treasure series. The story once again follows the adventures of Shoe and MaryAnn, tween-age friends living in a small town in the UP of Michigan in the 1920s. This time they search for and find several hidden treasures – one physical and another spiritual. The story is well-written and charming cover to cover. While the book is geared to tweens, teens and young adults, it held this adult’s interest throughout the quick read.
This book was the second one we read by D.DeVowe, and we can’t wait for more! The characters (Shoe, MaryAnne, Grandma) have become more dear and interesting to us (my 9 y.o. son and me, his mother). Again, a very pleasant, clean read; the plot kept me glued to the pages of this book til the very last sentence. I found myself teary eyed at a few places in this book, and smiling and laughing at other pages. Thank you to the author for a nice sequel to Greatest Treasure Book 1 (Mystery at the Hot Pond, also highly recommended!), we are anxiously awaiting the next book in the series, hopefully at least twice as long as this one!!
In this book I saw the power of forgiveness. I liked the adventure of the snowstorm and I also liked the introduction of sauna in the book, very Finnish. Hannah age 11
I like the ending, and I want him to write ten more books. Samuel age 7
I liked the whole book. Josiah age 9
I liked that they found the treasure. I also like that Shoe got a baby sister. Write 10 trillion more books.
Elisabeth age 4
I liked Snuffy, the trapping, hunting and tanning of hides. Caleb age 13
This book, the Suitor's Treasure, was very captivating, especially after the stage was set and the storyline was pulled together. Our aim was to read two chapters a day, but I ended up reading the book out loud to the kids in only 4 days. The suspense was so great we decided to read on. As a parent, If you take the opportunities, this book gives you great discussion starters with your kids, of any age. This is also a great book for kids to understand grandparents, and seeing that they had a life beyond what the grandkids see which makes up who they are today. Thanks for writing this second book in the series.
The Suitor's Treasure is Book 2 of David DeVowe’s Greatest Treasure’s series. This is the second book I’ve read by this author. DeVowe continues with the first person of telling this story from Shoe’s point of view.
This continues the story of Shoe and MaryAnne…this time as they make a little trip for Thanksgiving to Shoe’s grandparents. I think my favorite character in this story is MaryAnne. MaryAnne continues to have the lisp that she had in book one, Mystery at the Hot Pond. She’s is the instigator in this mystery though. Nice, sweet MaryAnne is the encourager to Shoe to get him to do things he’s not so sure he wants to do or get involved in. Since I don’t want to write a spoiler…just know that it’s a sweet read that will encourage a tween/teen to think about and hopefully act on the finding the Greatest Treasure in their life.
I was given this book by the author and willing chose on my own to write a review.
I enjoyed this book as well as the first written by David DeVowe. The Suitor's Treasure was fun to read. It brought back memories for my son when he and his cousins had a treasure hunt when he was around 10 or 11 years old. Looking forward to the next book.
I like adventure, a bit of mystery and romance and this book had it all! I was kept on the edge of my seat by the snowstorm and the digging for treasure and I thought it was great that the author brought into it the attic love letter!
